Game Calls

Deer grunt calls, rattle bags, predator calls, turkey calls, duck and goose calls, and elk bugles. Calling works best when the sound and cadence match what the animal is doing that week. Soft doe bleats and grunts suit early season. Rattling and aggressive grunts suit the pre-rut and rut. Distress sounds work for coyotes and other predators, and clucks and purrs bring in a hung-up turkey.

Choosing a call: pick one sound you can make well and learn it before the season. A mouth call keeps your hands free. A box or pot call is easier to learn. An electronic or reed predator call reaches farther in open country.
