Briar Proof Bibs & Brush Pants

Briar proof bibs and chaps for the thick stuff

Rabbit beagling, quail in plum thickets, coon hunting behind hounds, late-season deer drives through blackberry and greenbrier: this is the cover that shreds regular pants in a single season. Everything here is built to take it, with 1,000 denier briarproof fabric that is doubled on the legs where the thorns actually hit.

Most of this collection comes from Mule, a small Oklahoma maker that sews its gear in the USA. Pick bibs if you want chest-to-ankle coverage and a deep chest pocket that holds a day of shells (even .410s). Pick chaps if you'd rather wear them over your jeans and pull them off at the truck. The waterproof-lined versions add a treated liner for wet cover and cold mornings; the unlined and summertime versions run cooler for early-season hunts.

Sizing tip: order bibs by your jean waist size, and about 2 inches shorter in the inseam than your jeans. Briarproof fabric is stiff and won't bunch, so a long inseam drags under your boot heel and wears out the hem and zippers.
